The buildings that line New Regent Street in central Christchurch are among only a handful of listed structures that remain standing in the city’s business district.
DryFix ties were installed to several buildings to secure the outer masonry leaf to the inner brickwork. This intervention contributed to the performance of these buildings during the February 2011 earthquake and the long aftershock period experienced. Around 5000 additional ties have be installed as part of the latest round of strengthening work and repairs
